5 common mistakes about Azerbaijan

1. Azerbaijan is dangerous

Actually, it is the biggest mistake about Azerbaijan, because in the last 10 years there are hardly ever terror acts in Azerbaijan and there is almost no street crime in Azerbaijan. But at any rate in any crowded place such as a bus, tram, metro, market, entrance to a busy place—anywhere where people are packed close together, guard your bag, wallet, camera, jewelry, wristwatch, and anything else of value. But you can night and days problem-free walk and enjoy. Sometimes there are shootings only on the borders between Azerbaijan and Armenia but it is not dangerous for travelers.

      2. Azerbaijan is small

The population of Azerbaijan exceeds 10.2 million and the territory covers an area of 86 600 square kilometers. According to both of these figures, Azerbaijan is the largest country in the South Caucasus. Also, Azerbaijan is bigger than the Czech Republic and Austria, a bit smaller than Portugal and Serbia. So there are a lot of things to see.

     3. The population of Azerbaijan is Arabs and Islam is strict in Azerbaijan

It is very funny for us, to hear from our tourists that, Azerbaijanis are Arabs. We are not. Over 90% of the population are Azerbaijani Turks and there are many ethnic groups: Lezgians, Avars, Armenians, and Kurds. It is true Azerbaijanis are principally Muslims. But Azerbaijan is a secular republic and there are thousands of Christians and Jewish in Azerbaijan.

      4. It takes very long to get a visa

Actually, some years ago it was very complicated to get a visa, but now you can get your e-visa in three days. You must pay only 23 $ and some other documents (for further Information https://evisa.gov.az/en/information)

     5. Azerbaijani cities are unmodern

There are many modern cities in Azerbaijan. Especially center cities are modern and beautiful: Baku, Sumgait, Gabala, Guba, Mingachevir, Ganja, and others. There are modern parks, boulevards, museums, and shopping centers.
